Worth the drive
Almost the last restaurant you'll pass on the Leeward side in Waianae before leaving civilization on your way to the spiritual Ka'ena Point, you'll find this sweet cafe. Coquitos is the soul of Puerto Rico on O'ahu. Everything is made from scratch by the owner/chef/baker herself. Pictured is the world-famous Mofongo with bistek en su jugo, fresh salad, bean and potato stew, fresh-brewed suntea with lemon. Mouthwatering.
The last time we went by(time constraints, the only acceptable excuse), there was a line of cars waiting to park and folks lined up outside on the steps, in the heat, waiting for a table. Don't go that far without stopping in if at all possible, even if just for one of her fabulous postres to-go. You will not be disappointed.
